Project Summary

The Society of Ethnobiology is a nonprofit professional organization founded in 1981 and dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the relationships of plants and animals with human cultures worldwide, including past and present relationships between peoples and the environment. The Society hosts an annual conference with lecture sessions, field trips, workshops, and a banquet.

Their members work in the field of ethnobiology as employees of academic institutions, nongovernmental and nonprofit organizations, conservation and land management organizations, botanical gardens and arboretums, museums, libraries, and beyond.
The Society’s 2024 conference took place in late April at the Missouri Botanical Garden. In close partnership with the Garden’s Brown Center for Ethnobotanical Research, the Society approached Arbolope to develop a brand identity, print collateral, and merchandise designs for the special event. The resulting limited edition sweatshirts and large-format screen-printed posters were available for purchase exclusively throughout the conference.
